Online Resources

We have access to an online encyclopedia through Grolier and you can find educator-previewed websites when you use Nettrekker.  Social studies classes will love ABC-Clio while language arts classes may prefer to use TeachingBooks.net.  Check out the lesson plans, videos, and other resources available to you by utilizing unitedstreaming.  You may also want to access Wilson Web or EBSCO for the periodicals and professional journals that you’ll find there.  To find articles on different reading levels, try ProQuest.

The easiest way to access these resources is from the HISD website.  On the right side of the page, click on department information, letters J-M.  Find Library Services and click there.  You’ll see a yellow bar reading “HISD ONLINE RESOURCES”.  When you click there, you’ll see the icons for each of the resources.

For username and passwords, please see Ms. Boykin in the Library.

Library Orientation

Sixth grade orientations are complete.  The students have now been checking out books long enough for overdue notices to be generated!  Please remember that students must have their ID and a signed planner in order to be admitted to the Library during the school day.  If you would like to bring your entire class, drop by the library and schedule a time.
